Eulogy for the Human Race
The scenes are sacred, blasphemy in the unbelieving hands
On subtle mourning flow the ember of hollow, empty memories
Jagged and torn, like the dream of the chosen
Scorched summers, heavy autumns, last light
Winter...death in the eyes of the mother
Spring, our renaissance...
Where have we gone?
The light, the light was taken!
You left the world without a word
(Where have you gone?)
...And in that fateful moment we were never prepared, never saw what was coming, never acted, never acknowledged...only ignored
The candlelight drew a step closer to an end that was never believed, never sought, never adored
Children, gather 'round the campfire and vanquish all bad dreams
Conquered never the glow of immortal flight and cascaded through the realms of light
Where did you go, to only leave us strangled with a nocturnal fear and feeling of emptiness and loss?
We only read of such horror through our fairytales of old, only felt amusement at the pain of another, felt safe when nothing threaten
